A rather unusual and rare medal that shares much in the way of portrait style with the issues of Stefano Johnson in Milano, this unengraved award medal likely emanates from the mid 1950's, with it very much paralleling a shipping-related medal struck for the transatlantic Italian ship, the Cristoforo Colombo, which entered into service in 1954. Regardless, a charming example with a bold portrait.
