Bust of female right, wearing diadem decorated with sphinx and seen from behind // Civic coat-of-arms, with mural crown above, banner below, and within wreath of grape bunches and oak branches; plaque below engraved "RÉGATES INTERNATIONALES / 14 JUIN 1931" in two lines. Edge: ARGENT and two hallmarks.
Mint State. Gunmetal gray surfaces, with a great matte nature. Includes original box of issue.
Located in the western suburbs of Paris, Suresnes hosted an international regatta, or series of boat races, on Sunday, 14 June 1931. Among the 19 races of the day was the first international women's match with eight rowers. Compare to a piece with the same obverse, though paired with a railroad-themed reverse, that we previously offered.
