An iconic Hollywood actress and one of the most popular sex symbols of the mid-20th century, Marilyn Monroe was also a forerunner to the era's sexual revolution. On this incredibly rare work of medallic art, which is just one of two produced, artist Diana Thomson recreated one of Monroe's more famous scenes—that in which her skirt is being uplifted by a subway train traveling beneath her. This scene occurred in the 1955 film, The Seven Year Itch directed by Billy Wilder.
Ex David Nicholas Silich Collection (acquired from Howard & Frances Simmons, 2000).
