A KVLTVRÀÉRT ÉS A HAZÀÉRT (for our culture and homeland), nude Hercules facing, head lowered to the right, holding club and strangling the Hydra; grain ear to outer left and right // Upward-facing sword over bushel of wheat; in background, A / KÉVE over rising sun; in foreground, heavily stylized outline of the year, "19"-"14". Edge: Some filing marks as made, otherwise plain.
Klose 4.1; Wurzbach 8917; Huszar/Prokopius 6825. Mint State. Brown-bronze surfaces. with an alluring two-toned nature and great relief.
A fairly interesting piece of art created at the outbreak of World War I, this type from the Swiss-born Zutt features a great blending of renaissance and contemporary styles, and offers powerful commentary on the ravages of war and the hope for an approaching calm.
